QuickCal App Reviews

Works exactly as advertised: so convenient!

Does what I want; does it fast every time.

Accessing menubar via hotkey is not functional

This app is great for: 1. Quick entry of calendar events 2. Quick entry of reminders via Alfred 3. Quick access via the menubar to todays reminders and be able to check them off However, there is problem with use case #3. Most of the time when I bring up the menubar dropdown via the hotkey, there is no keyboard focus. So while I can look at my events and reminders, I cant act on them unless I use the mouse. To me, this defeats the purpose of accessing the menubar item via a hotkey, and is a serious flaw in this otherwise very functional piece of software. There is another little nag. Most of my events involve inviting other people. There doesnt seem to be a way to handle this with QuickCal. This means while I can create the event, I still have to go to iCal to invite attendees.

Asked for review

I actually enjoy QuickCal, however no app should ever ask you to leave a review. I hate it on iOS, and have been grateful it hadnt come to the Mac, but apparently Ive been wrong. Any app that asks for a review and requires that you either leave the app (iOS) or provide some sort of intervention before continuing (popups) has a complete disregard for user experience. If you really want an easy way for me to leave a review, just put a link in the settings or (preferably) the about page. Do not disrupt my workflow. Other than this ignorance of my experience, I find QuickCal to be a very handy app, especially when used in combination with Alfred.

Hello Mr. Glitch

Many issues. No customer support response. A frustrating experience cause it could be good if they wanted to make it so.

Great App for desktop and iPhone

The desktop app is great; however, although the iPhone app is also great, it takes a bit of time to load. Still I am giving both the desktop app and the iPhone app five stars. Keep up the good work.

Shuts Itself Off

I would rate it 5 stars if it did not shut off everytime I add a todo...

Great application. Crappy solicitation

Stop asking to review. Would have been a 5-star.

Very helpful

Love it!

To many requests for reviews

I might have rated this 5 stars, but the thing keeps bugging me to review it. Maybe now the app will stop pestering me. I can always go back and lower the review.

Great App!

This is a great app - as is the companion iOS app! What a fantastic way to simplify entering a calendar entry! Excellent work! Keep it up!

good

Good app. works well. Although I agree that asking for reviews is annoying Having to pick a nickname is ridiculous..they are all taken..

Wow - so easy

Downloaded this on the advice of a friend. the first event I entered astonished me at how simple and intuitive the app is. When I (disbelievingly) opened my calendar to check and see if it went through, I laughed out loud! It works! Thanks for making live a teensy easier! Oh, and to the person who complained about writing reviews - please. Just say no.

Nice update

Solid update. A restart is required for stealth mode in my experience.

Color Changes...

This is a VERY small gripe, but when you click on QuickCals icon in the menu bar and see your "To Do" items, can you add a feature that will let us customize the colors of the ovals that tell you how many days you have left? For example, when you still have time to do something, the color is green, and when you dont, the color is red. Again, this is a very small gripe… Other than this, PERFECT!

Best Productivity Tool In App Store

In the six months Ive had this app, Ive used it almost daily. It is the biggest time saver/productivity enhancer on my laptop!! With the iCal "Quick Add" upgrade in Lion , I thought I might not use QuickCal as much, but the ability to access (via hotkey) the event creation popup while using any application (even if iCal isnt open) is unparalleled. This is one of very few applications I open on startup!!

What Does It Do?

What does this application really do that iCal does not? It stays active in the menu bar? Big deal. Waste of money; would not recommend.

Love it!

This app saves me so much time entering events on calendars.

Good app, but not perfect

I recommend this app. It does have some flaws. For example, the date it shows in the menu bar does not automatically update (the way it does in the iCal icon in the dock), unless you click on it. I have been confused about what day it is on more than one occasion. The support section of the developers website is awful (I was not able to search for the topic), and emailing the developer about this issue -- admittedly minor but still irritating -- yielded nothing. Left a bad taste in my mouth.

Just keeps getting better

I reveiwed this app 6 months ago, but version 3.1 makes me write in again. This update really makes this the ultimate iCal add-on. The modest interface is easy to use, and the new autocomplete feature -- while I thought it would be a hassle -- turns out to be very handy. Common words like meeting, appointment, etc. come up automatically, which is a big time saver. Best of all, for folks like me who use multiple calendars, the new feature allowing you to assign a calendar in the event name itself (using the / symbol) is a wonderful addition. That was a feature Fantastical had but QC did not. No more. Besides, I like the modest interface of QC better than Fan, the latter putting too much info and graphics in your menu bar. This is a great app, well worth the money, and the developer continues to improve it with each new release.

Five Stars, and Great Support

This is a killer tool that I use quite frequently, and it just keeps getting better. The Reminders incorporation is fantastic, the parsing just keeps getting better and easier to use. After much resistance, I finally turned on the "menu bar" option which gives me a nearly-instantaneous glance at my upcoming schedule. No review about QuickCal would be complete without commentary on the quality of their customer support. Ive never run across a dev team that has been more responsive, more willing to work 1-on-1 to squash bugs, more willing to incorporate user feedback. Nothing like some good-ol-fashioned customer service to build customer loyalty.
